On 26 July 2018, Security & Risk Solutions Pte Ltd (SRS) received the ‘Workplace Safety’ and ‘People’s Development’ awards presented by Brands for Good (BFG). The awards aim to recognise our continuous efforts in sustainable business practices, particularly in the area of making positive impacts on our employees.
What is Brands for Good?
Brands for Good (BFG) is a programme which recognises forward-looking companies that champion and embrace corporate social responsibility (CSR), particularly Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), which are committed to being stewards of positive impact. Brands for Good hopes to build a network of game-changers to motivate other businesses to move towards achieving a sustainable future. Through Brands for Good, we have been recognised as one of the few brands that have embedded the principles of sustainability throughout our organisation.
We are extremely pleased and honoured to be the only award recipient for the ‘Work Place Safety’ category. SRS has always adhered to the security regulations posed by the Singapore Police Licensing & Regulatory Department (PLRD), as well as the safety and health policies of the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
In recognition of our efforts to promote and maintain workplace safety and health, we were also previously awarded the bizSAFE Award presented by the Workplace Safety & Health Council (WSH).
Consistently ensuring workplace safety & well-being of employees
These awards would not have been possible without the strong cooperation of our employees. For instance, the SRS operations leaders ensured workplace safety and health for our security personnel, through continuous risk assessments which identified and mitigated potential risks and hazards that may bring harm to them. We also held in-house briefings on workplace safety for all our employees, and everyone was attentive during each session.
Our employees are self-directed to improve
Unlike the traditional model where employers forced their employees to attend training and development, our SRS employees are self-motivated to do so. In SRS, promotion and recognition of employees are based on merits and a progressive wage model. The progressive wage model clearly states the skill requirements and responsibilities for each of our job role. As a result, employees who are keen to undertake more advanced job positions would inform us and proceed to upgrade and hone their skill with the training provided by Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ).
Our operation leaders also maintain a strong relationship with our other employees, during and after working hours. Should there be any red flags or concerns, the relevant parties will step in to resolve the issue within 48 hours.
Not only do the operation leaders ensure the mental, physical and social wellbeing of each other, they also perform one-to-one appraisals on a regular basis. The appraisal helps each employee to discover their leadership qualities and the areas in which they can gain greater competency.
“Employees are our greatest asset”
SRS believes that our employees are our greatest asset. Through our measures and focus on improving the welfare of our employees, not only did we minimise employee turn-over rate, we were better able to meet the needs of our clients and react to everyday risks.
The awards that SRS has received, serve as a recognition for our past efforts and commitment to nurturing our employees. We are committed to design and execute even better and healthier practices for workplace safety and people’s development in the future. Our long-term goal is to involve each and every employee in our corporate social responsibilities (CSR) such as pro bono security services for certain charitable cause and volunteering during the weekends.
